Saabs on Campus - Winter 2022

Surprisingly, there were a lot of Saabs found around URI this Winter. I'm not sure if I just had a keen eye, or if it was pure luck, but I'm not complaining with what I found. While there aren't any classics in this entry, the modern Saabs that can be seen are all pretty unique in their own ways. Stay tuned for Spring!

February 10, 2022: 2008 Saab 9-3 Aero

This 9-3 Aero was spotted in the Student Lot, towards the bottom of campus. I've found these 9-3 Aeros are pretty desirable among car enthusiasts in general, as they're known for their performance tuned suspension and powerful engine. The 9-3 Aero comes equipped with a 2.8L V6 engine making around 260hp. It may look like a normal 9-3, but if you see the Aero badge on the rear trunk, you know you're in for business.

February 10, 2022: 2002 Saab 9-3 SE Hatchabck

Here we have another first generation 9-3 on campus. The last time we saw one was back in December, which had the distinction of being equipped with a five speed manual transmission This one has been kept up well, and I'm glad to see someone enjoying such a great Saab car. The SE was the highest trim level, before the Viggen, which we'll touch upon once we find one. However, this 9-3 is one nice Saab.

February 22, 2022: 2005 Saab 9-5 Aero

This might be the cleanest 9-5 I've ever seen. I spotted this close to the campus gymnasium complex, and wow, this was a nice Saab.  I really wish I met the owner because I love this car. The 2004 to '05 9-5 Aeros are easily distinguishable from other 9-5s of this era. They came with the "shark tooth" front bumper you can see on this car and most of them came in the silver paint like this car.  If you want to see a great example of an early 2000s Saab, look no further. 

February 23, 2022: 2006 Saab 9-3 Sportcombi w/ Five Speed Manual

This is one beat up Saab. It's also a less common 9-3 wagon equipped with a 5 speed manual.  It's no secret that I love the 9-3 wagon body style, but with manual, it makes it even better. 

February 23, 2022: 2003 Saab 9-5 Linear

Keeping it up with another beater Saab! Here's a pretty run of the mill 9-5 sedan found in the student lot near the fine arts building. 

March 2, 2022: 2007 Saab 9-5

This isn't too interesting either, just another run of the mill 9-5 sedan. I like the color though. 

March 2, 2022: 2010 Saab 9-3 Aero

Here's another 9-3 Aero, a 2010, meaning it's one of the last Saabs imported to the US before production ceased two years later. 

March 3, 2022: 2007 Saab 9-5 Sportcombi

Here we go! A 9-5 Sportcombi, from the facelifted years of 2006 to 2009. You don't see these as often as you do the sedan, so I found it pretty neat that someone had one on campus. This is also in pretty decent shape too.

March 8, 2022: 2008 Saab 9-3

Don't worry we're almost at the end... here's a base model 9-3 sedan.
