About the Swedish Car Site

Welcome to the Swedish Car Website and Blog! Here you will find all things Saab and Volvo related. This site is home to everything from vintage to modern drivers and even some collectible pieces.

My family has always been a "Saab" family, with our first ever Saab being a 1973 99 LE Coupe that my grandfather purchased back in the late 1970s. After the car got him home during the peak of the Blizzard of '78, he infamously declared he would always own a Saab. Up until his death, his last car was a 2010 9-3X Sportcombi (Station Wagon), which my family inherited. Between then, he owned many Saabs, including a 900S Combi Coupe (Hatchback), a 9000 Turbo, a 9-5 wagon, and a 9-3 (First Generation) Hatchback. My mother's family owned many Volvos, including a 1988 240 Sedan, with a four speed transmission, and a 1994 940.

My passion for Swedish cars stemmed from that 2010 9-3X my family inherited. I always liked how the car looked, and it eventually came to be the car I learned to drive in, then used as my primary car for commuting and road trips. While it was never officially mine, I personally adopted it, and made sure it was always cared for. In 2023, I purchased my own 1990 240 Wagon, which I eventually sold, but came to enjoy Swedish cars even more through my ownership.

Another aspect of this blog will be dedicated to my Swedish Car diecast collection as well. Collecting 1/64 "Hot Wheels" scale cars has always been a passion of mine, and what better way then to start a sub-collection of Saabs and Volvos.

This blog will hopefully bring a sense of community to the ever growing Swedish car culture. If you have anything of your own you'd like to share on this blog, I strongly encourage reaching out, as I love a good story and cool car! I hope you enjoy!
