Classic Saab and Volvo on the East Side of Providence
With school being out, I had more free time on my hands. With that time, I used it to take a nice bike ride on a warm May afternoon. I traveled from my hometown of Cranston, over to Providence, and from there, over to the East Side of Providence. The East Side is hilly, and home to some historical buildings, houses, and land marks. It's also home to some classic Swedish cars, as you'll see down below! You can also read the full entry on my bike ride on my car blog.
1990 Volvo 240 DL
I found this old Volvo cutting through some side streets. Since it was parked in a driveway, I couldn't get much pictures of it, but I think this rear quarter shot gives a good overall look of what to expect. Maybe one day it'll be street parked, and I'll be able to do it more justice.
1993 Volvo 240 Estate
This 240 was spotted at the YMCA off Hope Street, a main street running through the East Side. This one has clearly been through the ringer, with a nice patch on the rear left quarter panel. Aside from the yellowed headlights and usual missing trim, this seems to be a pretty reliable daily driver for its owner.
Saab 900 Turbo Convertible
And now, a Saab! This classic 900 convertible was spotted at Tomasso Swedish Motors, a Saab and Volvo specialist, which is technically located in Pawtucket, and not Providence. It's right on the Pawtucket/Providence border.
I'll let you in on a brief secret, this was my destination on my long bike ride through Providence. I had spotted this car previously while out with my friends, and made it my mission to come back and photograph it when I got the chance. This Saab must be undergoing some maintenance, as it looks to be in good shape. I hope it gets back on the road soon!
