Saab Spotting - Spring 2022

Here are some more modern Saabs I found during the warmer months of Spring. I was still on campus, so I wasn't able to find much classics again, so take that as you will, but for those looking for some Saab content, here you go!

April 28, 2022: 2009 Saab 9-5 

This Saab greeted me outside my residence hall as my roommate and I stepped out to grab a pizza one evening. It has shown up on campus in the past, so it must belong to one of the students. 

April 29, 2022: 2007 Saab 9-3 60th Anniversary Edition

In 2007, for Saab's 60th anniversary, Saab released special editions of their 9-3 and 9-5 models. These cars came with "Saab" bolstered seats and the sporty rims you see on this 9-3. Other distinctions included Aero trim level accents, such as more interior bolstering and body trim. The engine was kept at the standard 2.0L turbocharged four cylinder to keep the Aero distinguished, so these anniversary models didn't receive any performance tuning. The 9-5, on the other hand, was tuned to make 260 HP. The most rare examples are the models painted in Ice Blue metallic. Only a select few were made. 

This 9-3 was spotted in a small town in South Kingston, while I was out on a bike ride. I had brought my bike down to campus when the weather started to warm up, so I was able to access other areas I couldn't by foot. I traveled on the South County Bike Path, which connects URI to other areas, such as the Kingston Railroad Station and Narragansett, stops off at this small town in Kingston, which is home to a few boutique shops and restaraunts. 

May 5, 2022: 2006 Saab 9-5 Sportcombi w/ Five Speed Manual

This may not look like it, but this is a rare Saab. This is a 9-5 wagon with a 5 speed manual, which is pretty uncommon on its own, but what makes it more rare is the color. There are only three examples of a 9-5 wagon in Chili Red with a standard transmission in the US, according to the E-Saab database. I was also fortunate enough to meet the owner, as he saw me checking the car out. We talked about Saabs for a bit, and I went on my way. This sure is one nice Saab.

May 9, 2022: 2008 Saab 9-3 Sportcombi w/ Five Speed Manual

Another manual Saab wagon! This time we have a 9-3, which was found atop a parking garage in Norwich, Connecticut.
