1985 Volvo 245 DL Estate: Up Close with the "Kingston 240"
I knew at some point, I'd have to do this car some justice. All the previous times I'd photographed it, it was always in motion. I always wanted to visit the car in person, and take decent pictures of it, because this 240 is one, very well maintained, and two, an early '80s 240 wagon with a manual transmission.
One evening after classes, I took the back roads home from campus, and decided to do just that. At the time of this post, the car was up for sale, so I figured if the owner were to spot me standing around his car, I'd just be investigating it from the post.
Despite the missing hub, this Volvo is in amazing shape, and a great car for anyone looking for a clean early '80s 240 wagon. Bonus points include its west coast origins, as well as the manual transmission. It can be tough to come across a Volvo with these features, and all for $9500 (see the for sale sign below), that's not a bad deal at all.
This car ended up selling a few weeks after I took these pictures. I really hope it goes to a good home, and that whoever bought it enjoys it. I'm sure they will, as who wouldn't enjoy a 240 wagon. I know if I had the funds and time, I'd totally scoop it up as a potential daily or weekend driver. Someday, I will.
