Saab and Volvo Spotting - Winter 2023

Here are the "impromptu" finds for the Winter months. These finds are cars spotted driving or while driving, so the picture quality isn't as great as the more formal finds from this Winter. Coincidentally, none of these were spotted in Rhode Island.

January 21, 2023: Volvo 240 Estate in Groton, Connecticut

This seemingly clean 240 wagon was spotted by Sam in Groton, CT. Here's what he has to say about it.

Sam: "This little wagon was spotted on a trip out to Groton to see the USS Nautilus and maritime museum. It looked to be in nice shape from what I could tell when it drove by."

January 26, 2023: Saab 9000 Aero in the Bronx, New York

During my short stint in New York, I found a few Volvos (see the entries), but almost no Saabs. This was the only classic Saab I found, a very nice 9000 Aero. It was photographed driving under the NYC Subway Line 1, which travels directly over Broadway Street, which connects most of the Bronx to Yonkers and Manhattan. 

Unfortunately, this was the best photo I could get, but I know I could've done better. Initially, I spotted this 9000 parked in front of a store. I was hesitant to take pictures because I didn't want to seem sketchy in front of everyone, so I resisted at first. Finally I choked up the courage, but as soon as I did, the car's owner walked out of the store and stepped into his car and drove away. I took this picture as he departed.

January 28, 2023: 1990 Volvo 240 at Princeton University

Sam also spotted this Volvo, this time at school at Princeton University. Here's what he has to say:

Sam: "Surprise, surprise, another Volvo 240! This one was spotted when I returned to campus at the end of Winter break.  It was in really nice shape. Unfortunately, when I went to walk back down to where it was parked after I'd unpacked, it was gone."

February 7, 2023: 1993 Volvo 940 Estate
